1. HOW LIGHTING WORKS WITH HAUSMATE

Hardware required for lighting:

  • Zone Gateway
  • DMX Gateway
  • The Haze
  • The Host
  • Sensor Unit

Other apps that can be used together with lighting:
The Lighting app takes input from the Haze, PIR sensors and ambient light sensors and controls lighting circuits, as well as allowing remote access via the User Interface (UI).
The app enables a user to control the lighting in each room separately, to turn the lights on or off and adjust how bright they are. Using the PIR sensors, located in the Sensor Unit, Hausmate will respond with light on movement.
Lights can also be set when you are not at home, for security reasons.

2. HOW TO USE THE APP

Lighting can be controlled in two different ways: through the Haze and through the User Interface (UI).

Through the Haze:

  • By default, the light scenes are marked by colour GREENbut this may have been changed by the user
  • Press and hold until you get the right colour
  • Release the button on the right colour - the LED should start pulsing on that colour
  • Turn from side to side to start to either dim or brighten the current light scene
  • Click to cycle through the various light scenes available

Note: If the Haze does not display any light, it will act like a normal light switch.

Through the UI: you can control a Zone directly or use the Planner.

To view / change the current light settings in a Zone:
  • Log in to the UI - click here if you need help to log in to the UI.
  • On your Home page, the Zones which have lighting on will show a black light bulb icon next to them.
  • Select the Zone you want to change the Lighting for
  • At the bottom of the page, click on the icon showing a light bulb - but this is usually the first page showing up
  • Press on On / Off as desired or swipe to dim / brighten the light

  • You can edit or delete an existing preset by clicking ADJUST.
  • You can create a new preset by clicking  ADJUST on any existing preset. Change the name and make the desired changes then click SAVE AS COPY. The new preset will now show up in the list and is ready to be used.

Through the Planner:
  • Light levels can be set up according to different profiles (e.g. you can choose to turn on lights in some rooms once it gets dark outside). Here are more information about how to use the Planner.

To edit the set up of the lighting:
  • Log in to the UI -  click here if you need help to log in to the UI
  • On the Home page, click on the menu button at the top left hand corner
  • Select Settings
  • At the top of the page, click on the arrow and select Lighting
  • The page displays information about lighting controller, occupancy and external light files and level for every Zone in the house

The first two columns show the current positioning of the light controllers around the property. Each one is connected to an occupancy sensor (column 4) and based on the information received from it, the light will act accordingly (e.g. turning on when someone walks in the room).
Tick the fire alarm column for the lights you want to be turned on in case of an alarm going off, to facilitate evacuation.
The Level value of 250 is used by the system to decide if it is daytime or not, by comparison with the levels read by the External light sensor.  Therefore, the system will know when to switch from a day to a night preset.
