Overview

***also see attached data sheet and assembly drawing, at the bottom of the page

The Relay Unit (RU) is designed to be connected to one of the sockets of the Zone Gateway (ZG). It has 6 change-over relays in it which can be used independently or linked together on the PCB using the wire links.

Note: The links are supplied fitted as standard and must be cut out as required by the installer.

Hardaware

Allow 250 x 150 x 35mm plus space for trunking for each relay board, normally mounted on the wall. There are 4 glands on bottom long side for output cables (T&E and/or CAT5) and one cable on the right-hand end for the control cable from a ZG (CAT5 with RJ45 connector).

How to link the RU

Legend:

C - Common terminal

N - Neutral terminal

N/C - Normally closed terminal

N/O - Normally open terminal

E - Earth terminal

  • The links connect either the common ‘C’ terminals or the ‘N’ terminals of adjacent relays together - e.g link ‘LK N1-2’ links the N terminal of relays 1 and 2, link ‘LK C3-4’ links the common terminals of relays 3 and 4.
  • All the ‘E’  terminals are permanently linked together and to the metal box.
  • The N terminals are provided for distribution of a Neutral line if the relays are switching mains or they can be used as a spare terminal for joining wires of 2 different cables.
  • The ‘N/O’ terminals is only linked to the ‘C’  terminal when the relay is energised.
  • The N/C terminal is only linked to the ‘C’ terminal when the relay is NOT energised.

Hausmate does not mix 'low voltage' (50Vac<low voltage<600Vac, 120Vdc<low voltage<900Vdc  e.g. 230Vac) and ‘extra low voltage’ (e.g. <50Vac, <120Vdc) in the same RU for safety reasons.

Wire links LK1 to LK10:

  • LK1 links output 1 'C' to output 2 'C'
  • LK2 links output 2 'C' to output 3 'C'
  • LK3 links output 3 'C' to output 4 'C'
  • LK4 links output 4 'C' to output 5 'C'
  • LK5 links output 5 'C' to output 6 'C'
  • LK6 links output 1 'N' to output 2 'N'
  • LK7 links output 2 'N' to output 3 'N'
  • LK8 links output 3 'N' to output 4 'N'
  • LK9 links output 4 'N' to output 5 'N'
  • LK10 links output 5 'N' to output 6 'N'
